About Christie Garafano:

Owner of Body Essentials, Christie’s fitness journey began in college when she earned a degree in Exercise Science. She has worked in various capacities within the fitness industry including management, group fitness instruction, personal training, and corporate health coaching for over 15 years before opening Body Essentials in Rutland in 2013. A constant in Christie’s life regardless of career is that exercise is medicine and helps create balance in an otherwise demanding daily life at any age. Furthermore, combining healthy dietary strategy and aligning other lifestyle factors for stress management, mindset and motivation directly relate to the adherence of a consistent exercise routine aiding individuals in weight management, energetic aging, pain free daily life, and confident body image. The philosophy of Body Essentials integrates Christie’s belief in a daily curriculum of exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle results in an overall healthy life based on prevention not trying to out exercise an otherwise unhealthy life. This belief has been progressively weaved into daily work and education with clients in addition to monthly and quarterly specialty programming to reinforce the value and bring concentrated focus to lifestyle and nutritional factors in addition to exercise for a well-balanced, healthy life.

Personally, Christie has completed 2 Vermont City Marathons, a handful of half-marathons, various 5K’s and one Spartan Race. She has been active in the weight room since college feeling the benefits that strength training has on all facets of life, health, performance, and anti-aging. Finally, Christie loves walking her dog and being as active as possible in her day to day life at home and is constantly seeking educational opportunities and practices to enhance her own nutrition and lifestyle practice. She strongly believes in practicing what she preaches and honing her practice with clients thru constant reading and studying the most effective exercise and mind-body strategies for a life full of health, happiness, and positivity.

Christie lives in Chittenden with her husband Tom and dog Austin.
